Meroo Vineyard, also known as Yarra Glen Vineyard in local, is just in the north of the town Yarra Glen, which is close to the culturally sophisticated city of Melbourne, at the centre of the Yarra Valley. The site was part of local historical icon—Gulf station, the first local farm established in 1838. Before vine planting in 1993, it was a significant dairy farm in the region.
As one of the famous privately owned vineyards in Yarra Valley, it has premium quality fruit growing on the beautiful 80 hectares of land which is naturally divided into 12 blocks by creeks with a backdrop of green hills.
Unique complexity is derived from the ancient sandy loams, deep yellow clays and gravely top soils and the variation of site orientation and topography of the vineyard blocks. Vines in eight varieties planted from 1993 to 1997 increase diversity of flavor and are planted on sites that best display their varietal characters.
The ability to consistently produce high quality wines from all varieties has earned Yarra Glen winery a respected reputation. Efficient vineyard management and operation skills, utilising best practice and modern techniques including computer based programs, ensure quality products which are exceptional fruit and delicious wines.
